My doctor says I am disabled. Is that enough to qualify me for Social Security Disability benefits?

No. You cannot get disability Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits solely because your doctor says you are disabled. Your must meet other conditions.

To be eligible for SSD you must be legally defined as being disabled. According to the Social Security Administration, you must the following two conditions are required under Federal law in order to be eligible to receive SSD benefits:

1. You must be unable to do any substantial work because of your medical condition(s); and
   
   
2. Your medical condition(s) must have lasted, or be expected to last, at least 1 year, or be expected to result in your death.
