Los Angeles area disability insurance attorney, Michael J. Bidart
Attorney Michael J. Bidart devotes 100% of his practice to litigation.

My lawyer says I should just settle my claim, but the amount is not what I think I am entitled to.  Can I get more money if my case goes to trial?

Each disability case is unique and must be evaluated on its own merit. However, some law firms will never go to trial over insurance disputes - they only settle cases.

When you are interviewing attorneys to take your disability case be sure to ask them if they litigate insurance cases or only settle them. You should also ask how many cases they have litigated - and won.

We carefully evaluate each case to determine the best interest of our clients. Although we are able to settle most of our disability cases, we have the resources and experience to go to trial when necessary.

If an insurance company has committed insurance bad faith, you may be able to sue for damages.

How does Shernoff Bidart Darras & Echeverria LLP decide which cases to handle?

Our Intake Department is staffed by new case analysts who personally talk with each and every person who contracts our firm. These analysts record the details of the scenarios they hear and present them to our weekly new case conference. At this conference, our attorneys discuss the merits of each case. If a case is deemed to have sufficient merit, it is accepted, and a retainer agreement is signed with the client.

If my case is accepted by Shernoff Bidart Echeverria LLP, am I going to be involved in a trial?

Not necessarily. In fact, the majority of cases we handle are resolved by settlement, which can occur right away, prior to a scheduled trial or even during a trial. Your dispute may also be mediated by a neutral third party, who serves to help both sides reach an agreement.
